Go on a date at least once a month…
That’s what the priest told us when my wife and I got married. For the first 6 months, we were doing that until my wife got pregnant. With her having a big tummy, it became really hard for us to go to a mall or go out so we did dates at home. This was our set-up until our baby was around 6 months old, then we went on our monthly dates again after that.
Fast forward to 2015 when I went to Singapore and left my family in the Philippines to work, our monthly dates was halted again. We did only one date when we were in Singapore, just because the Grandmas were there to look over our daughter and up until yesterday, since 2016, we haven’t gone on a date without our daughter. Lucky my mom is here now.
That’s more than 2 years and to tell you honestly, I was nervous, excited and “kilig” the whole day while waiting for our date to happen. We ate at a Chinese restaurant, bought a quarter pounder meal from McDonald’s and watched Avengers! After two long years, we are like boyfriend and girlfriend again. Oops, I forgot to mention, there’s someone in my wife’s tummy so technically, it’s not just the two of us, but, whatever, we went on a date. Yahoo!
What’s my point? Go on a date while you can, enjoy each other’s company. I’m not saying having kids is a hindrance but enjoy your moments together while you can. Time flies so fast that you might forget what it feels like to do things together. Everything changes when you have kids. So millennial friends who are in a relationship, go on a date at least once a month. You’ll never know when you will have the next one.
